Linda Gail Underwood

Linda Gail Underwood, 69, passed away Friday, August 3, 2012 at her home in Bardwell, Texas, surrounded by her family.

Linda was born July 26, 1943 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, the daughter of John and Susie Peugh. She graduated at Saltillo High school in 1961. Linda has worked and lived in Waxahachie, Ennis and Bardwell. She has been the loving wife of Joe Bob Underwood for the past 32 years. She started playing the piano at Greenwood Baptist Church at the age of 13, then Ferris Avenue Baptist Church, and was currently the pianist at First Methodist Church in Bardwell. She was a long-time secretary with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department and Court systems. After leaving the County, she was a well known and loved waitress in the Ennis area at BJs Café, Wood Creek Cafe, and Brown Street Café. She also painted the mural on the Three Dog Tavern. When she “semi”- retired, she focused on her love of art, painting and being a grandparent. Linda has been a wonderful mother to her five children and a spectacular “Mimi” to her grandchildren and great-grand children.

Linda is survived by her husband, Joe Bob Underwood; her Mother, Susie Peugh; one Brother, Jimmy Peugh; Children: Lisa Hobbs, Charice Hankins, Shawn McNeely, Brooke Forner; Grandchildren: Derick Pena, Garrett Hobbs, Alyssa McNeely, Eve, Emily, Ella, Elizabeth Forner; and Great Grandchildren: Victoria and Easton Pena.

She is preceded in death by her Father, John Edward Peugh; Son, Bobby Scott Hankins.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc., 408 N. Dallas Street, Ennis, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in the J. E. Keever Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Larry Jinks officiating.
