Corey James Pruitt became an angel on September 1, 2012, in Ennis, TX at the age of 23.
He was born on June 18, 1989 in Ennis, TX to Robbie Pruitt and Teresa Curry. At the age of two, his family moved to Spring, TX where he graduated from Klein Oak High School. Following high school, he became a Journeyman Electrician and worked very hard to further his career. At the young age of 21, he opened his own sign company, Top Notch Signs. He quickly became successful at designing signs all throughout Texas.
Corey lived life to the fullest. Throughout his life he enjoyed playing football, hunting, camping, water sports and four- wheeling. Most of all, he loved his family and friends.
Corey is survived by his father, Robbie Pruitt; his mother, Teresa Curry Elwood and his stepfather, Michael Elwood; sisters: Sumer Pruitt Reid and Neeli Pruitt Underhill; step-sisters: Sarah and Caroline Elwood; brothers-in-law: Dustin Reid and Ryan Underhill; grandparents: Ramon and Francis Armstrong, Bobby Joe and Roxanne Curry, Patsy Brewer, Larry and Debbie Pruitt; step-grandmother, Dolores Elwood.
He is preceded in death by his aunt, Sandy Pruitt Jones; his step-grandfather, Jerry Brewer; and his great-grandparents: Inez Hindman, Oleta Curry, Billie Ruth and J.W. Brim, Buster and Mary Pruitt.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at J. E. Keever Mortuary, 408 N. Dallas Street, Ennis, Texas. A Celebration of Corey's life will take place on Friday, September 7, 2012, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Todd Grey officiating in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel in Ennis. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery, under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Corey's name.
