Andrew Randolph "Randy" Johnson, 93, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, in Ennis, Texas.

Randy was born on June 24, 1930, to Bert and Neva (Falls) Johnson at the Swenson Ranch in Throckmorton County, Texas. He was raised and went to school in Throckmorton. In 1945 he moved to Lueders, Texas for his senior year of high school. He joined the U.S. Navy in March of 1948 and served two terms of duty before being honorably discharged in 1953. He worked in the oil fields and did welding jobs during the week and rodeoed on the weekends. In August 1959 he married Lois Jean Phillips. To this union were born 3 children: Neva, Jeff and Scotty. He moved his family to Arlington, Texas in 1962. He worked in the sheet metal industry for 13 years. He went back to his roots, managing ranches in areas near Ennis, until his retirement in 1995.

Randy loved to work. He worked hard and expected those around him to do the same. He had a love for the outdoors, so when he wasn't working, he was hunting, fishing, or roping. He played just as hard as he worked. He instilled this ethic in his children and grandchildren. He was always a tough man, but when his grandkids came along, they could melt him. He loved spending time with them and made memories with them by not only teaching them to hunt, but providing them with a place to hunt. He had a strong love for his family.

He lived his retirement years with Jean at their home in Garrett, and enjoyed going to the casinos until he was unable to get around. He spent his las few months at Bluebonnet Rehab in Ennis, and received patient, kind, and loving care until his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, of 64 years; daughter, Neva Ransom and her husband, Tommy; son, Jeff Johnson and wife, Joan, He is also survived by grandchildren: Angela (John) Minear, Dianna (Kyle) Cline, Melisa (Trent) Tobola, Randy Ransom and Erica Ransom and great-grandchildren: Annelise and Catelyn Minear, Cooper, Casen and Chloe Cline and MacKenzie, Tinsley and Tracen Tobola.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, sister, Anna Gayle Hibbits and her husband, Theron and by his son, Scotty Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel in Ennis, with a private burial to be held at a later date.
