Benny Jack Conn Sr. went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 22, 2026. He was born on August 27, 1950, in Waxahachie, Texas, and lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and unwavering love for those around him.

Benny is preceded in death by his parents, Maxine Conn (Whitley) and Cal Conn; his brothers, Bobby Conn, Billy Conn, and Michael "Boyd" Conn; his sister, Brenda Conn; and his beloved aunt, Margie Hartis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn Conn, the love of his life and lifelong partner. He also leaves behind his cherished children: daughter Tammy Billings and son-in-law James Billings; son Benny Conn Jr. and daughter-in-law Charlotte Conn. Benny was a proud grandfather to Shane Billings, Erica Trojacek, Amber Cervantes, Ashley Billings-Kanemo, Matthew Elliott, Dalton Billings, and Benny Jack Conn III, as well as a beloved great-grandfather to many great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Barbara Campbell and Betty Campbell, along with numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Benny was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather—but most people knew him simply as "Papa." He was rarely seen without his welder's hat, overalls, suspenders, cigar, and his ever-present red handkerchief. His greatest joy in life was his family. When asked what he was most proud of, his answer was always the same: his family.

He always wanted to make sure that anyone who came to his home had food to eat. He would proudly take you to his pantry and say, "Eat whatever you want to eat," making sure no one ever left hungry. Benny also loved showing people all the things he had collected over the years—his house was often referred to as a museum. One of his greatest joys was his Coca-Cola collection, which he was especially proud of and loved to share with others.

He loved gathering with family and friends to enjoy good food, music, singing, dancing, laughter, and a cold Bud Light. Benny grew up in Ferris, Texas, in humble circumstances and often said they didn't have much, but he built a full and meaningful life through grit, determination, and skill. Though he only attended school through the sixth grade, he became a successful businessman and a true jack of all trades—a welder, construction worker, plumber, mechanic, and the kind of handyman who could fix just about anything.

Benny deeply loved his wife, Carolyn. He enjoyed aggravating her and the two often picked at each other, but behind it all was a love that never wavered over 57 years of marriage. Early in life, Benny moved to Dallas and eventually settled in Bardwell, Texas, which he proudly called home.

He loved being outdoors, working on old trucks, and especially had a soft spot for classic 1957 Chevrolets. Benny lived life his way—hardworking, generous, and surrounded by the people he loved most.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his big heart, strong hands, open home, and the love he poured into his family. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he was so proud of.
