Bernie Doyce Massey, 88, passed away in Rice, Texas on Thursday, March 2, 2023.

Bernie was born on April 7, 1934 in Gilmer, Texas to Bernie Wilber and Zelma (Rains) Massey. Bernie grew up in Greenville, Texas and attended school there. Bernie served his country proudly in the United States Air Force from 1954-1958. On March 14, 2009 he married Karolleen Gilbert and they made their home in Ennis and then to Rice.

Bernie worked for Bell Helicopters as a utility operator and in repairs. Bernie had a great love for square dancing and was a Square Dance caller for over 50 years. Bernie had served as a past President of the North Texas Square Dance Callers Association. Bernie taught many how to square dance over the years.

Bernie is survived his wife, Karolleen Massey; sons: Michael Massey and wife, Brenda and Bryan Massey and his wife, Heather; fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Anita Rabon and a host of extended family and friends.

Bernie is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jack Massey and grandchild, Ryan McGee.
