Betty Bentle Fleming was born in Waldron, Arkansas, but Ennis, Texas is where she built her life and her family. She was married to Richard Fleming for almost 30 years, and I was so blessed to be their daughter. Although most got to experience her love and selflessness, I was the chosen one who had the privilege of calling her mom.

My mom had a way of making everyone feel welcome and seen, and she had a way of taking care of people that went far beyond words. Anyone who knew her knows that you never had to ask her for anything because she offered or showed up before you could. That is who she was - she gave without hesitation, and she gave from the heart.

She devoted many years of her life to Erwin Distributing, which is also where she met her best friend, Letha Zmolik, and formed a lifelong friendship that proved to her that friends can truly become family. After retirement, she spent years volunteering at Legend Oaks, continuing to do what she was put on this earth to do - serve and care for people. That was her purpose, and she lived it every single day.

The only thing she loved more than baking was her family, and we all knew it and felt it in every hug. My mom was the heart of our family. Her love was constant, steady, and unconditional. It's a love that will stay with us forever.

While it's incredibly hard to say goodbye, we find comfort in knowing that her kindness, her compassion, and her love live on in all of us. Every time we take care of someone, every time we show generosity, every time we give without expecting anything in return - we are carrying a piece of her forward.

My mom will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her giving heart, and the countless lives she touched. Her love and legacy will continue to live on in every act of kindness inspired by her, and in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

Her sisters, Barbara Jennings, Johnnie Lusk, and Judy Rejcek, also shared a lifetime with her, and I honor the depth of their devotion, love, and loss. She will always be with us.

Cemetery Chapel services will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10 a.m. in the Myrtle Cemetery Chapel under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory through a thoughtful act of kindness, no matter how small.
