Billie Frank Swearengin's Obituary
Billie Frank Swearengin Sr., 95, went home to meet his Heavenly Father on Friday, January 1, 2021, from Ennis, Texas.
Billie was born in Sweetwater, Texas on October 7, 1925 to William Franklin Swearengin and Mildred Hogue. On April 25, 1953, he married Mary Nell Farris and they made their home in Dallas, Texas before moving to Ennis in 1970.
Billie was a WWII veteran. He was in the US Navy from 1943 - 1946. He witnessed the Raising of the Flag on Iwo Jima and the signing of the Japanese Instrument of Surrender on the USS Missouri from the USS Lenawee in Tokyo Bay.
He was an aircraft inspector for Ling-Temco-Vought (LTV) for 39 years in Arlington, Texas.
He was a member of the American Legion, the NRA and Love Worth Finding Ministries.
Billie is survived by sons, John Swearengin and wife Barbara; Billie Swearengin Jr. and wife Jannan; daughter, Gwenda Vinkler and husband Glenn; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Nell Swearengin, and his mother and stepfather, Thomas L. and Mildred Hutchison.
A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.
