BILLY GILLESPIE

Mr. Billy Joe Gillespie, 65, died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at the Baylor Hospital in Dallas.
He was born March 17, 1938 in Ennis, the son of W.H. and Vada McDaniel Gillespie. He was reared in Ennis where he attended school. He then attended Navarro College. On Sept. 20, 1955 he was married to Bettie Smith. After their marriage they lived in Ennis. He was employed by Navarro County Rural Electric for many years. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and served on the board of Brazos Electric.
He is survived by his wife, Bettie, of Ennis; a son and his wife, Ronald K. and Tammy Gillespie of Ennis; a daughter and her husband, Tammy Jo and Billy Joe Morris of Ennis; a brother, Tommy Gillespie of Arlington; 4 sisters, Betty Jean Steele of Atlanta, GA, Pauline Bourland of Nashville, TN, Edna Bell of Tyler, Marie Moore of Dallas and Alline Powell of Corpus Christi; 2 grandchildren, Terry Dowd and Tina Torrez both of Ennis; and 2 great grandchildren, Anthony and Andrew Torrez of Ennis. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, C.R. Gillespie and C.B. Bourland.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Keever Chapel. Interment will be in the Telico Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary with the following serving as pallbearers: Troy Gillespie, James Jones, Jimmy Oliver, Randall Oliver, Billy Jones and Rusty Andrews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
