In Loving Memory of Billy Guy Gillespie

Billy Guy Gillespie, beloved father, grandfather-to-be, friend, and dedicated servant of his community, passed away on May 26, 2026, at the age of 59.

Born on October 4, 1966, Billy was the cherished son of Linda Callaway Gillispie. Throughout his life, he embodied kindness, generosity, and a genuine love for others. He had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel welcome, valued, and appreciated. His bright spirit and warm smile left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Billy dedicated 17 years of service to Elk Distribution Center in Ennis, Texas. Following that chapter of his life, he pursued his passion for helping others by becoming an EMT and Paramedic with East Texas Medical Center. His commitment to caring for people extended far beyond his profession and reflected the compassion that defined his character.

A proud member of the Ennis community, Billy devoted countless hours to serving others. He volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels, ensuring that members of his community received not only meals but also kindness and companionship. His dedication to helping those in need was a testament to the selfless way he lived his life.

Billy was also one of the biggest supporters of Ennis athletics. He was a passionate advocate for both the Ennis Lady Lions and the Ennis Lions Football team, proudly cheering on his children and their teammates from the sidelines. His enthusiasm, encouragement, and unwavering support were felt by athletes, families, and fans alike.

Known for his cheerful personality and unique sense of humor, Billy brought joy wherever he went. Friends and family will fondly remember seeing him wear shorts during the brisk winter months and a toboggan during the heat of summer—a reflection of the individuality and lightheartedness that made him so special.

Billy is survived by his loving daughter, Autumn Gillespie; his son, Adam Gillespie; daughter-in-law, Jazmyn Gillespie and former wife, Allison Svehlak Gillespie. He was overjoyed to be anticipating the arrival of his first grandchild, expected in September 2026. Though he will not be here to hold his grandchild in his arms, his love, values, and legacy will live on through future generations.

Billy was deeply loved by his family, friends, coworkers, and the entire Ennis community. His kindness, service, laughter, and unwavering dedication to others will never be forgotten. While his passing leaves a tremendous void in the hearts of those who knew him, the countless lives he touched stand as a lasting testament to a life well lived.

Billy's memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Private graveside services will be held in Rice Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
