Bobby Jack Bonner, 94, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, in Palmer, Texas.

Bobby was born on January 5, 1930, in Garret, Texas, to R.L. and Fay Bonner. He was raised in Palmer, where he graduated from High School in 1947. After high school he attended a year of college at East Texas State University before going to the United States Navy during the Korean War in January of 1951. After being honorably discharged in November of 1954, he returned to East Texas State University and while there, he met his future wife, Ida May Spencer. They were married on May 29, 1956.

After graduating college, he and Ida taught in Texas Public Schools. On September 30, 1966, he was appointed Postmaster of Palmer, Texas where he stayed until retirement.

Bobby enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching football with his sons and grandchildren.

Bobby was a member of The First Christian Church of Palmer where he served as deacon for many years.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, R.L. and Winnie Fay (Crowder) Bonner, and his wife of 66 years, Ida May Bonner.

He is survived by his sons: Robert Bonner and his wife, Jacqueline, and Russell Bonner and his wife, Shaila; five grandchildren: John Follis, Charlotte Davis, and husband, Jason, Manoj Sewal and his wife, Kristen, Jason Bonner and Rishi Bonner; seven great-grandchildren, sister, Nedra Doan and brother, Joe Bonner.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Palmer.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Palmer with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Palmer Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
