Catherine (Lanicek) Shackelford entered eternal rest on November 11, 2025, at the age of 83 peacefully in her home. She was born on February 10, 1942 in Ennis, Texas to John and Rosie Lanicek. She is a 1960 graduate of Saint John Nepomucene Catholic School. She was married to Donald Shackelford on October 7, 1961. A devout Catholic woman, Catherine lived her life guided by faith, compassion, and service to others. She found joy in the simple blessings of life— especially her family, friends, and the beauty of each new day. She was affectionately known as "Nonna" to everyone she embraced as her own. Her faith was her foundation, and she lived it fully, offering comfort, wisdom, and love to all who knew her.

She is survived by her children Sheila (Joe) Galetka, Cynthia Shackelford, Father Christopher Shackelford, Connie (James) Trojacek, David (Tina) Shackelford, and Selena (Randy) Dixon. Grandchildren Hillary Galetka, Joseph Galetka, Lauren (Sean) Allen, Kaleb (Rosemary) Trojacek, Brooke (Caleb) Skrivanek, Isabella Shackelford, Nathanael Dixon, and Jonathan Dixon. Great-Grandchildren Peyton, Callie, and Mitchell Allen; Lucia and Margaret Trojacek; and Leah Skrivanek. Also survived by sisters Mildred Betik and JoAnn Brown and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Shackelford; parents John and Rosie Lanicek; and sister Rosalie Rabe.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel in Ennis, Texas with Rosary at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis, Texas at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 14, 2025, followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. The family invites friends and loved ones to join in celebrating Catherine's life and legacy of faith.

"Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her."

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Catholic Cemetery Trust in memory of Catherine.
