Charles E. Atkins passed away peacefully on July 24, 2025, in Dallas, TX. He was 85.

Charles was born in Dallas to R. Carl Atkins and Katheryn Atkins, and he grew up in the Oak Cliff area. Charles graduated from Sunset High School and attended junior college in Plano,

TX. He married Shirley Finley in 1959, and they recently celebrated their 66th year of marriage. A lifelong salesman who worked for American Chicle, Warner Lambert and retired from Pfizer. Lighthearted and sociable, his passions included travel, the Dallas Cowboys, SMU Mustangs, and the Texas Rangers. Along with his wife, Charles was a compassionate animal rescuer.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Charles is survived by his wife, Shirley Atkins of Dallas, his daughters, Suzanne Atkins and wife Laurie McDaniel of Plano and Dyanne Atkins of Dallas, his Brother-In-Law, Robert Finley of Richardson, his Sister-In-Law, Pam Finley of Richardson, Niece, Annette Finley of Allen and Nephew, Mark Finley of Dallas.

The GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at the Crisp Cemetery (off Shankle Rd) on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis, TX. Casual dress is suggested due to the weather.
