Clyde Marcus Phillips, 82, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022, in Dallas, Texas.

Marcus was born in Stamford, Texas, on March 1, 1940, to H. M. and Clydean (Pritchard) Phillips. Marcus grew up in Stamford and graduated from Stamford High School in 1958. He went on to receive his Agricultural Education degree from Texas Tech University and his Animal Science degree from West Texas State University. On May 25, 1961, he married the love of his life, Virginia Snapp, and they made their homes in Stephenville, then Lubbock; Maple, Texas; Canyon, Texas; Hereford, Texas and finally to Ennis in 1986.

Marcus was a beloved Ag teacher for several school districts for 39 years including: Threeway ISD, Canyon ISD, Hereford ISD and retired after seventeen years in 2002 from Ennis ISD. Marcus was a member of the First Christian Church, Texas Association of Agriculture Science and Calvary Baptist Church. Marcus enjoyed raising pigs and other livestock, but the love of his life was his family- especially his grandchildren.

Marcus is survived by his loving wife of over sixty-one years, Virginia Phillips; son, Robbie Phillips and wife, Shannon; daughter, Lisa Burden and husband, Gedra; grandchildren: Madison, Ariel, Autumn, Alexia, Ariel and Logan; brothers: Bill Phillips and wife, Mary Dean and Mike Phillips and wife, Tobie along with a host of extended family and friends. Marcus will be remembered by his many students over the years and the impact he had on their lives.

Marcus is preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 2 p.m. in the Ellis County Expo Center with Rev. James Patterson and Craig Meier officiating with J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. assisting.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to either Calvary Baptist Church of Ennis or memorial fund to be set up with information coming soon in Marcus' name.
