Daniel "Big D" Pereyda, age 75, passed sway on Thursday, Aug 14, 2025 in Dallas, Texas.

Daniel was born on January 21, 1950 in Rankin, Texas and grew up in Ennis, Texas. He attended schools in Ennis and was a 1968 graduate of Ennis High School where he played football.

On July 17, 1971 he married the love of his life, Janie Olalde and they made their home in Ennis.  He worked for American National Insurance for a few years then he was a Supervisor at Ennis Paint for several years.  He then worked at Tamko in Dallas as a supervisor until 2002.  At that time he went back to Ennis Paint.  In 2005 they transferred him to St. Augustine, Florida to become Plant Manager at their facility.  He lived there until 2010 when he was transferred back to Ennis where he retired in 2012.

Daniel enjoyed his music. He loved Tejano, country and his "oldies".  He also loved grilling and rooting for his favorite teams!  He loved his Ennis Lions and would tune in every Friday night.  He was a Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan.  He loved college football and also watched the Little League World Series and the Olympics.  He loved fishing, taking his family on vacations, and Sunday drives.  Daniel was a quiet man but had a big heart.  He loved his girls and grandkids.  He was known as their "Popo".  He had the pleasure of raising his grandsons as his own.  He also raised his nephew Joseph (Joey) Gonzalez.

He is preceded in death by his first daughter Jennifer Marie Pereyda; his parents: Santos and Fidela Pereyda; his sisters:  Aurora Alvarez and Francis Pereyda; and one brother, Antonio Pereyda.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janie Pereyda; daughters: Jessica and Monica; and seven grandchildren: Patrick and Gabriel Pereyda, Tristin Pereyda, Seth Flores, Jordan, Elias and Jade Gonzalez; sisters: Anita Martinez, Mary Fira and Juanita Caudillo along with several nieces and nephews.

VISITATION will be Wednesday, August 20, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with ROSARY at 7 p.m. at J. E. Keever Mortuary, 408 N. Dallas Street, Ennis.

MASS OF THE CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 401 E. Lampasas Street, Ennis with Father Fred Caldwell as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ennis, under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

Pallbearers: Patrick Pereyda, Tony Pereyda, Louie Caudillo, Timothy Foust, Johnathan Foust and Michael Martinez.

Honorary Pallbearers: Gabriel Pereyda, Seth Flores, Elias Gonzalez, Jordan Gonzalez and Randy Garcia.
