Dr. David Norman Chancellor of Bristol Texas was called home to be with his Lord in the early
hours of Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

David was born on February 19, 1951 in Dallas, Texas to Mary Rowe and James Monroe
Chancellor. He grew up in the Oak Cliff area and graduated from Kimball High School in 1969
and with his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M in 1975. Upon graduation he
worked for Dr. Robertson in Oak Cliff and Dr. Tom Mclaughlin in Cedar Hill. While working the
Waxahachie Livestock Sale Barn he met his wife, Jana Lynn Stephenson.They were married on
May 22, 1982 and made their home in Ennis. David spent the past 40 years taking care of his
patients and clients at the Ennis Veterinary Clinic before retiring in April of 2020.

David is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jana; daughter and
son-in-law, Laura and Alex Black of Dallas; son, Glenn Chancellor of Colorado City;
granddaughters, Sydney and Maylenn Chancellor and Blair Black, who he loved with his whole
heart; sister, Viki Chancellor; niece, Caroline Stephenson and nephew, John Stephenson; as
well as numerous cousins and other loving family and friends.

An outdoors man through and through, David enjoyed spending time at the family land at Lake
of the Pines and at his second home in Alpine, Colorado. Hunting was a passion of his and he
even told his daughter that she wasn't allowed to have her wedding in deer season if she
wanted him to be there. He spent many hours in the deer stand where he watched for animals.
It was a good hunt even if he never raised his gun. He watched the sun rise or set. He
observed the view. He listened to the birds. He had conversations with God. He took naps.
David was a man of many talents. He could fix anything and loved to tinker. He could smoke a
mouthwatering prime rib and brisket, a talent passed on to Glenn and enjoyed by many. Boy
Scout Troop 210 never left a campout hungry and hot dogs were not on the menu. He had an
amazing ability to find arrowheads.

Those who called him friend knew he would do anything for them. He tried to live a life that
was pleasing to God. As a faithful member of the Waxahachie Church of Christ he was a
student of the Word. His favorite hymn was "As the Deer". He is at peace.

Donations can be made in his honor to the Ennis Gun Club , First Look , or any charity of your
choosing. He was one of 10 original members of the Ennis Gun Club in 1982 and Club Treasurer
since its inception.
