James David Dickerson, 76, of Ennis, passed away on December 29, 2023, surrounded by family.

David was born in Dallas, Texas to Margie Hartis and Billie Bob Dickerson on May 25, 1947. He went to Ferris High School and graduated in 1965. On his 16th Birthday, on a blind date, David met Donna Branton. Fated to love for a lifetime, they married October 14, 1965, in Ennis Texas. He worked as a Machine Mechanic for Dart Container into retirement, and a was a Maintenance Superintendent for Certainteed (19 years). He was an avid lover of Ennis Lions Football, heavily involved in Lionbackers and attended Baylor Baptist Church.

David's entire existence was entrenched in family. He loved his wife and family more than anything in life. He attended every performance and game of his most beloved granddaughters. When soccer first came to Ennis, David jumped in to coach his boys. He did everything with his sons. And by "sons": many of their friends would come to David for help with cars, welding, many fixes and just a home away from home.

His peaceful moments were spent in sunsets on the Ranch (as he called their home). David and Donna loved their annual camping trips to State Parks, if they were together, anywhere was Heaven.

David is preceded in death by his Father Billie Bob, Mother Margie Hartis, Brother Donald Dickerson.

David is survived by his wife of 58 years Donna; sons Rodney Dickerson, David Dickerson Jr, Cody Dickerson and wife Dana; Brothers Bruce Dickerson and Steve Dickerson; Two Granddaughters, Jaeden Dickerson and Peyton Dickerson; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis, Texas.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

The pallbearers will be Danny Howard, Larry Howard, Keith Howard, Kenny Davis, David Gurecky and Shane Mansell. Honorary Pallbearer: Melvin Fowler.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, would be appreciated to Boston's Market at the Ennis High School and the Baylor Baptist Youth Group.
