David William Dlabaj, 72, was born on August 10, 1950, to Willie Albert Dlabaj and Anna Cecilie (Horak), in Ennis, Texas, and passed away on November 21, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. We are sure there was an extra-long drumroll when David arrived at the Pearly Gates. He was funny, full of life, friendly and never met a stranger.

David Graduated from St. John High School in 1968, and attended East Texas State University where he received his Associates Degree in 1972.

He was employed in a supervisory position at Hal Tec Construction in Terrell, Texas, until his retirement in 2012. He had also been in the used car business for many years with his father.

He was a member of St. John Church, the KJT and American Legion. David enjoyed riding his Harley with all of his riding buddies. His true passion was listening to, and making music. He also loved to sing. He enjoyed drumming for The Johnny Mensik Band, Slick Wheels and the Four Streaks, Mountain Creek Band, Studebakers, LD's and Anything Goes, filling in for The Midtown Playboys, occasionally, along with other bands.

He lived life to the fullest and we are sure he would describe his life using his favorite catch phrase, "I did it my way". His uncanny ability to light up a room with his quick wit and infectious smile will always be remembered he was loved profoundly and we are thankful for the many friend and family that supported and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Anna.

He is survived by his loving partner, Jeanette Slama, his children, Charlene Marie Dlabaj, and son Christopher David Dlabaj and wife, Rachel; his precious grandchildren, Lily, Casper and Devon; sister Pauline Lanicek and husband Wesley; sister Betty Valek and husband Mike, along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews. He will always be fondly remembered and missed.

Visitation will be from 12-2 pm on Friday; December 2, 2022 in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with the Funeral service beginning at 2 pm.
