David Lynn Matus, 67, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 in Plano, Texas.

David was born in Vernon, Texas on March 17, 1953 to Robert and Madilyn (Motl) Matus.  David grew up in Vernon, Texas and graduated from Vernon High School.  He received his associate's degree from Tarleton State University.  He went on to graduate from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Engineering.

David went to work for Haliburton as a petroleum engineer for thirty-nine years when he retired in 2016.  David was a member of the Catholic Church and KJT.  He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, skeet shooting and football.  David was a real handy man he could fix just about anything.

David is survived by his family including his son, Jordan Matus; daughters: Taylor Matus and Kathryn McElroy and husband, Ryan; two grandchildren: Stella and Evie brother, Robert Matus; sisters: Diane Conover and husband, Larry and Melissa Irons and husband, Thad along with a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Private services will be held at a later date.
