David "Squat" Shaw, was born on May 2, 1943 and passed away on February 6, 2026.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Dorothy Shaw and brother Butch Shaw.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Shaw; son, Wade Shaw and wife Raye Etta; granddaughter, Shelby and Ketch Weaver; great-granddaughters, Blakelyn, Kodi and Kora; bonus son, Quint Nance; bonus daughter, Christy Howell; bonus grandsons: Cross Gorden and bonus granddaughter, Christian Gorden.

David grew up on the Shaw family farm and picked cotton with his parents. After high school he worked for Freeman Olds as a transmission mechanic. Then he started a long life of trading horses. He spent lots of time going to horse auctions where he always had a smile on his face for everyone he met. After retiring from horses he had many irons in the fire.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 3 p.m. in the Sokol Hall of Ennis. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Roberts, I.W. Ward, Trent Ward, Charles Ray Spurgeon, Dale Leard, Lloyd Fletcher, James Penniston, Rod Young, Guy Taylor, Jim Snow and Bo Nutting.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude's Research Hospital .

The family sincerely thanks you for your expressions of sympathy and thoughtfulness extended to us for the loss of our beloved David. We deeply appreciate your kindness, and it will always be remembered. He is trading with all his friends that went before him in heaven.
