Dawn C. Irish

(March 25, 1951 – April 25, 2021)

Dawn Irish, 70, of Ennis passed peacefully on April 25, 2021 in the comfort of her own home. Dawn was born on March 25, 1951 in Escanaba, Michigan, the daughter of Ormal and Muriel Wellman, and grew up in Ford River, Michigan.  She graduated from Escanaba High School in 1969, then later attended Bay de Noc Community College.  She chased her childhood sweetheart, Bob Irish, until she caught and married him in Escanaba on August 21, 1971.

She started her first job at Dairy Queen as a teenager so she could buy her favorite shampoo and give ice cream cones to her true love and future husband, Bob.   She went on to work at Escanaba Daily Press, Michigan Bell, First Presbyterian Church of Ennis, and Edward Jones, but her favorite role was at home as a faithful wife and loving mother.  Dawn left a piece of her heart in Michigan when she moved her family across the country to Texas but would return annually for the fair and to celebrate Christmas.  With Bob by her side, they traveled the world together, creating and sharing memories to last beyond them.  Dawn was an avid, elite level shopper and enjoyed browsing the markets in Canton and attending sorority meetings with her close friend Ann. Dawn had multiple pets over her lifetime, the majority being cats as she favored them out of most typical pets. She had a total of 12 animals, 9 cats and 3 poodles. In her childhood, Dawn cherished the dolls she received for gifts, and she still has them to this day, occasionally gaining more to love and treasure.

Dawn is survived by son Mark Irish and wife Dee of Keller, son Jeff Irish and wife Tess of Ennis, her precious grandchildren Vaughn and Camden Irish of Keller and Celeste and Jude Irish of Ennis, brother Bruce Wellman, sister Sherrie Sanville, sister-in-law Nancy Irish, nieces Kaylene Wellman, Kathy Wellman, Olivia Vogelmann, Sophie Vogelmann, nephews Kevin Irish, Darren Irish, Brandon Swanson, best friends David and Ann Smith and her cats Snickers and Shini.  Dawn is preceded in death by her parents Ormal and Muriel Wellman, husband Bob Irish and brother-in-law Dale Irish.

At Dawn's request, her life will be celebrated at a private family memorial.  Memorials or donations in Dawn's memory can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, American Cancer Society or ASPCA.

Arrangements for a private memorial service will be scheduled at a later date by the family.
