Della Ann (Fletcher) Simmons earned her heavenly wings early on Monday, July 4, 2022.

Della was born to Jack and Florence Fletcher on March 19, 1936, in Frost, Texas. She was blessed to be raised by Julia Fletcher upon her mother's passing.

The summer of 1955 she met, Robert "Bob" Simmons, the love of her life on a blind date on South Padre Island. They spent their young married life in Pasadena, Texas, moving to Ennis in 1969.

Della built mission critical equipment for the space shuttle while working for Space Craft. She finished her working career doing activities for Ennis Care Center.

Her greatest joy was being Maw-maw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with countless number of their friends.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert Lee Simmons: son, Robert "Buckshot" Simmons, Jr. and wife, Debbie; daughter, Julia Carter and husband, Van; grandchildren and spouses, Cassidie Peschal, Chad and Tiffany Pitt, Alan and Jaclyn Simmons, Jake and Allison Whitfill, Amy and Chad Spurlock; great-grandchildren: Kelsie, Ashton, Brett, Emma, Cole, Brylee and Aiden; sister, Judy Ann Martin and she also leaves behind her beloved dog, Darcie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, in laws, Clark and Blanche Simmons, brother, Jack Fletcher and granddaughter, Brittany Ann Whitfill.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 10 a.m. in Myrtle Cemetery with Rev. Michael Howard of the Cowboy Church of Ennis officiating under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Pallbearers will be: Alan Simmons, Jake Whitfill, Chad Spurlock, Brett Simmons, Cole Spurlock and Jerod Brown.
