Dollye Ruth Mohundro of Ferris, Texas, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the age of 98.

She was born November 15, 1926 in Ferris, Texas to the late James Franklin Whitton and Edna Wright Whitton. Dollye married the love of her life A.Y. Mohundro Jr. on May 30, 1943. Together they raised two sons, Richard Lynn and Phillip Whitton Mohundro.

Dollye was a hairdresser and florist by trade and she enjoyed many hobbies which included painting, cooking and sewing. She and A.Y. loved to square dance and travel in their RV; visiting many of the State and National Parks. She was a God-fearing woman and held her hope and trust in the Lord. Dollye never hesitated to share her love for Jesus with others. She loved her church, her Sunday school class and her quilting group. She loved preparing for the holidays and having all her family together. Dollye especially adored her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 77 years A.Y. Mohundro Jr., parents; son Richard Lynn and wife Roxanne Mohundro, son Phillip Whitton Mohundro, sister Kate Marie Wright and brother James Franklin "J.F." Whitton, Jr.

Dollye is survived by her sister Mary Spurgeon, Grandchildren; Richard Lynn Mohundro, II and his wife Kathy, Rhett Young Mohundro and his wife Kristi, Loren Mohundro Cook and husband Jonathan, Sydnie Mohundro Talley and her husband Bronson; great grandchildren Ashley Mohundro Jones, Nichole Hile, Ethan Mohundro, Adam Mohundro, Kennedi Philips, Arebelle and Axyl Talley; great-great-grandchildren Aidan Young, Avery, Madelyn, and Maycie Jones; several nieces and nephews; extended family members and special friend Linda Lampier.

Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 pm Sunday March 16, 2025 at First Baptist Church Ferris located at 304 W Fifth St Ferris, TX 75125.

Interment will follow at Ferris Memorial Park North, Ferris, TX under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. with Jerry Bloomfield officiating.
