Donald Martin Bennett Jr., who lived his life with quiet determination and deep love for his family and long-time friends, passed away Tuesday morning, January 27, 2026, in Waxahachie, Texas.

Donald (Don) is survived by his wife, Donna Bennett; daughters Melanie Reynolds (husband Andy) and Rachel Kinnison (husband Ben); grandchildren Caleb, Noah, Sophia, Avery, Ellis, Marshall, and Morgan; and sisters Dee Leone, Dinah Kelley (husband Bill), Martha Bennett (husband Rick Scotto); and sister-in-law Cynthia Williams. He is also survived by many extended family members and dear friends. Don is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Helen Bennett.

Born on June 15, 1954, in Dallas, Texas, Don attended Stephen F. Austin State University where he met his wife through mutual friends—a match that would become the foundation of his life. Moving to a family homestead in Palmer, Don spent his working years defined by diligence, loyalty, and integrity. In all parts of his life, Don was guided by a strong sense of responsibility and care for the people around him, valuing action over words. Although sooner than planned, Don enjoyed retirement with a good black-and-white movie, a Dr Pepper in hand, and family nearby making plans he joined with good humor.

Don will be remembered by loved ones as a trusted craftsman with a quick-wit and a true aim.
