Dorothy Mae Markham, 92, went home to meet her Lord and Savior surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, from Ennis, Texas.

Dorothy was born on August 4, 1932, to Roy Clifton and Ruby (Frazier) Gothard. On December 21, 1951, Dorothy married the love of her life Harold Markham and they made their home in Palmer and then in Ennis.

Dorothy was a strong and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was well known for her many hobbies including crafting, rag rugs and bingo. Dorothy enjoyed sports but the Dallas Mavericks were her favorites. Dorothy was a member of the Red Hat Society and Refiner's Fire Church.

Dorothy is survived by her loving family including her sons: Harold Markham, Jr. "Buddy" and wife, Lee Ann, Neil Raymond Markham and wife, Devra Diane; daughters: Karen Lee Bratcher and husband, Billy, Barbara Louise Patterson and husband, James and DeLana Ann Smith and husband, Kenneth; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren along with a host of extended family and friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Markham, brothers: Thomas Clifton Gothard, Royce Neil Gothard, Jerry Ray Gothard, sisters: Doris Vashti Bass, Carolyn Lou Chapman, and Judy Kay Turney and great-grandson, Tyler Slovak.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of remembrance will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. James Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
