Dwain Ray Jakubik, age 66, sadly passed away on March 19, 2026. Dwain was born on July 22, 1959 in Ennis, Texas. After attending Ennis High School and Navarro College he went on to work at TI as an Equipment Engineer for over 30 years.
He had a lifelong love for the water whether it was snow skiing, water skiing, cruising across Lake Whitney, floating off the dock, taking dip in the pool, or scuba diving. He loved being out on "Dwanda", his houseboat. If he wasn't taking it out for a ride, he was down in the engine compartment fixing—or cursing at—something, washing it, grilling off the bow, or jumping off it. It feels fitting that he passed away on the houseboat, his happy place, surrounded by the water and life he loved most.
If he wasn't at the lake, he was either at a Texas A&M football game or watching from home. He may not have attended Texas A&M but he married into it and he bled maroon. He was also a tequila connoisseur, always in pursuit of a perfect martini, a master of buttering strudels, and, despite his dedication to his apiary, no stranger to the occasional bee sting. He also had a soft spot for animals and never hesitated to bring home a stray or two.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Janie Jakubik, and his brother, Rodney Jakubik. He is survived by his first love and wife of 43 years, Monica Jakubik, the second love of his life, "Dwanda" his houseboat, his two cocker spaniels Groot and Mouse, his sister, Monica Pechal, his nieces, Whitney (Brandon) Alvarez, Kristina (Javier) Padilla, and Kasey (Garrett) Van Buskirk, along with many…many adoring nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and countless other extended family and friends who loved him deeply and will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
