Edward Marion Bobalek

December 3, 1939- June 19, 2026

After a lengthy battle with cancer, Edward Marion Bobalek, 86, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday June 19, 2026 in Ennis, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Born December 3, 1939, in Ennis, he was the only child of Marion and Agnes (Tomsu) Bobalek. He grew up in Kaufman, Texas and graduated from Kaufman High School in 1959. On November 23, 1963, he married his loving wife, Dorothy Ann Slovak, at St. John Catholic Church. They made their home in Ennis and shared 62 years together. Edward was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

After serving in the Texas National Guard, he worked for Joy Larkin in Waxahachie for 35 years. He then worked for Leggett & Platt in Ennis until he retired. Edward was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the SPJST.

A true outdoor man, he was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved to share his catches with family and friends. Edward loved to work with his Kubota tractor tending his garden and sharing the fruits of his labor with others. He especially liked to pickle his cucumbers and his smoked BBQ ribs and peach cobbler were requested favorites from his grandchildren. Edward was a family man. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joy of his life. He loved fishing with his grandsons, Logan and Reece and giving tractor rides with his great-grandsons,  Elton and Julian. During the holidays, he assisted making strudels with Dorothy, Lorraine, Dena, Lexi, and Lauren. Edward never met a stranger and he loved meeting up at Charlies with his "buddies" for his morning coffee visits.

Edward leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife Dorothy, son Dwain Bobalek and girlfriend Sheila, daughter Dena Rendon and husband Alex, grandchildren, Chelsey Novak and husband Stephen, Alexie Rendon and boyfriend Bailey, Logan Rendon, Reece Rendon and girlfriend Jasmine, great-grandsons, Elton and Julian Novak, brother-in-law, David Slovak and wife Betty, nephew Jason Slovak and wife Lauren and great nephews Arlie and Benjamin Slovak, and brother-in-Law, Daniel Tenney.

He is preceded in death by his parents Marion and Agnes Bobalek, in-laws, Joe and Rosie Slovak, sister-in-law, Lorraine Colston Tenney, and brother-in-law, L.B. Colston.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 10 a.m. in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father Fred Caldwell as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
