Evelyn M. Patak, 86, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, March 28, 2024. She was the Patak family matriarch and beloved by all. Evelyn was born December 26, 1937 in Ennis, TX to Joe A. and Mary C. Nekuza Patak. She attended St. John Catholic School and graduated May 16, 1957. Evelyn was employed June 25, 1957 by Southwestern Life Insurance Co. in Dallas and continued employment until June 27, 2008, serving with the same company for 51 years.

Evelyn was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic church and a 50-year member of KJZT where she served as Financial Secretary for a number of years. She was also a 50-year member of WFLA.

Evelyn will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will be cherished most by her loving family. Evelyn is survived by 70 "children" in all as she claimed every niece, nephew, great niece and great nephew and great, great niece and great, great nephew as her own, even including a great, great, great niece.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, Joe A. and Mary C. Nekuza Patak, and her three brothers and their wives: Joe S. and Mary A. Patak, Edwin G. and Lillie Ann Patak, and Wesley W. and Josephine Patak Grmela. She is also preceded by her niece, Brodwynne Patak, her nephew, Jeremy Wayne Patak, and her great nieces, Deborah Zaidle and Ann Michelle Trojacek.

Pallbearers are: Zak Zapletal, Jerod Brown, Tommy Brown, Justin Brown, Lukas Vogt, Brad Patak, Scott Hejny, and Wesley Scott Patak.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm and immediately followed by a funeral service and rosary which will begin at 1:00 pm and will be led by Evelyn's nephew, Deacon Charlie Stump, and her Godson, Zak Zapletal, in the J. E. Keever Chapel – Ennis. Immediately following the service and rosary, Evelyn will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
In lieu of flowers or food, donations can be made to Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans, LA where her Godson, Zak Zapletal, attends as a seminarian studying to be a Catholic priest. Donations will benefit future seminarians and priests as they pursue their Catholic faith.
