Gary Lloyd Wright, 68, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, March 16, 2025.  There is joy that his suffering is over.

He was born in Crockett, Texas to Lloyd Wright and Margaret McCrory Wright.  He grew up in Fort Worth Texas and attended Pascal High School.   In 1974, he enlisted in the Navy where he served on three ships during that time in Aviation Ordnance.  Upon his return to Texas, he completed his GED and two years at Navarro College.

On October 28, 1994, Gary married Janice Goodwin, and they recently celebrated thirty years of marriage.

Gary worked as a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Navarro Regional Hospital retiring in 2018. Looking for something to do after retirement, he began volunteering in 2022 for the Bluebonnet Trails.   He never met a stranger, and he loved people.  His love for volunteering led him to becoming a part time employee for the City of Ennis at the Welcome Center.  He loved meeting people who would come from all over the world to see the Bluebonnets, and he would often let Janice know everyone he met.   He was a great Ambassador for the City of Ennis.

He loved watching old movies, westerns, and listening to Gospel music.  He collected vintage watches and toys from old premium cereal boxes.

Gary was a member of FBC Waxahachie where he volunteered many summers with Vacation Bible School.   He loved the Lord and always wanted to serve Him where he was needed.   He was also a member of the Texans on Mission and the Ennis Masonic Lodge #369.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his Father-in-Law Walter Neal Goodwin and Mother-in-Law Hazel Dyess Goodwin.

He is survived by his wife, Sister Janie Franklin, Brother-in-Law Bill Goodwin, Sister-in-Law Sharon Goodwin, Nephew Blake Goodwin and his fiancé Angie O'Rourke, Nephew Scott Goodwin and his wife Kimberly, Great Niece Karlie Goodwin, Great Nephew William Neal (Will) Goodwin, Great Niece Tatum Grisel, Great Nephew Kollin Grisel, Uncle Bill Dyess, Aunt Sandra Dyess, Cousin Anna Oakley and family, and Cousin Emme Stewart and family.

Serving as Pallbearers are Bill Goodwin, Blake Goodwin, Scott Goodwin, Randy Tesmer, Tim Cooper and Trent Morales.   Honorary Pallbearers are Will Goodwin, Bill Dyess and Johnny Roberts.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, March 20th at 2:00 pm at J.E. Keever Mortuary with Senior Pastor David Ritsema officiating.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

2 Timothy 4:7-8:  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for this appearing.
