George Frank Kubin, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday April 09, 2022.
George was born in Ennis on January 06, 1938 to Joseph E. and Angeline (Vrana) Kubin. He
grew up in Ennis and graduated from St. John High School. In 1956, while cruising down Main
Street, he met the love of his life, Carrie Jean McDaniel. He married Carrie Jean on May 19,
1959, and they made their home in Ennis.
His career began at A. Gunthard & Company, at which he later became co-owner and president
until he retired. George was not one to fully retire, so he started to work at Nelson-Putman
Propane and Main Street Hardware where he enjoyed visiting with old friends and making new
ones. He never stopped his daily farm work all the way to the end. He loved to hunt with his
boys and enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. His main priority though, was always his family.
How he loved those Sunday lunches. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic
Church of Ennis, KJT, and Sokol.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Carrie Jean Kubin; sons: Edward Bruce Kubin and
his wife Cynthia of Ennis, Christopher Jay Kubin and his wife Abigail of Rockwall, Samuel Mac
Kubin and his husband Robb Ernest of Plano, daughter-in-law: Christi Kubin of Waxahachie;
grandchildren: Lauren Kubin, Alexandria Zmolik and husband Matthew, Taylor Kubin, Lucinda
Kubin, Grace Kubin, Caroline Kubin; great-grandchildren: Cameron Mikula, Collins Zmolik;
Sister: Evelyn Wilson, along with a host of other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son William Todd, brother Raymond Kubin, sister
Georgia Byrd, sisters-in-law Gail McDaniel, and Annie Lee Kubin.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J. E. Keever
Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will take
place on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis
with Father James Yamauchi as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, under
the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Layman's Catholic Cemetery
Trust, and St. Joseph Church of Waxahachie Building Fund .
