Gerald "Jerry" Roy Glaspy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed peacefully on Monday, April 17th, 2023, surrounded in the love of his family at home, at the age of 83.

He was born on April 15, 1940, to J. Roy and Mary Ann (Maroney) Glaspy. Jerry grew up in Ennis, Texas and graduated from Ennis High School in 1958. He went on to earn a Bachelor's in Animal Husbandry and Agriculture from Texas Tech University in 1962.

Jerry had a successful career as a farmer and rancher at Sand Lake. He then followed his entrepreneurial spirit investing in banking and the community. Upon his retirement he traveled the world with the love of his life, Betty. They shared many great adventures together including their most recent trip to Egypt in December.

Jerry was a man of many talents. He was an avid fisherman, casting for dinner and companions in faith. He looked forward to golfing weekly with his buddies. He also enjoyed woodworking and tinkering in his shop.

He was a man of few words yet commanded attention when he spoke. While he didn't push his beliefs, his strong faith in God and priorities were unmistakable. He embodied the qualities of a loving, dedicated father and leader of his family, setting the example for future generations. He focused on serving his friends and family. He never knew a stranger and you would be hard-pressed to find someone that didn't consider him a friend. Jerry had a huge heart and welcomed all that he encountered.

Jerry was a devout Christian and an active member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church where he served in numerous leadership positions. He was also a dedicated member of the Military and Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus of Jerusalem, an order of Christian chivalry, at the highest level. Because of his dedication to the ideals of the Order he gave generously both financially and in service. One of the highlights of his participation in the Order was a recent pilgrimage to the Holy Land. The purpose of this pilgrimage was not only to see the sites where Christ preached and walked but also to visit charities that the Order supports.

Jerry is survived by many loved ones including his wife Betty, his children Malcolm Glaspy, Mary Glaspy Wiggins and James Robinson. Daughters-in-law Nora Glaspy and Alicia Robinson. Grandchildren Samantha Smith and husband Jake Smith, Darren Rivers, Kristyn Glaspy, Aaron Robinson, Lauren Geades, Addie Robinson, Evan Geades, and great grandchild Violet Smith, along with a host of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy Weldon, brother Bill Glaspy, and Dan Robinson.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday April 22 at 2 PM in the J.E. Keever Chapel - 408 N. Dallas St. in Ennis, TX. Reception and Celebration of Life immediately following at St. Thomas Episcopal Fellowship Hall, 901 Park St, Ennis, TX.
