Herschel T Lester,III passed away in The Woodlands, Texas on Wednesday March 1, 2023.

Herschel was born in Gainesville, Texas on January 23, 1953 to Herschel T Lester and Gelene Sanders Lester. He lived in Era Texas where his Dad taught in Era ISD. His early school years were while living in Missouri, and Georgia. He started High School at Upper Arlington in Columbus Ohio. He graduated from Ennis high School in Ennis, Texas where he received a scholarship to continue his education and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education at Sam Houston State University.

Music was ever present for all his life. He started taking guitar lessons in 1963. He taught in Texas High Schools as band director, he was director of instrumental music, taught history math and coached basketball. He did extensive work with computers, published and recorded music.

He was most passionate about singing and playing the guitar in bands over the years, one being "The 1900 Storm" in Galveston, Texas in the 80's. He retired after spending his time in Key West, Florida performing at local venues.

He is preceded in death by his father Herschel T Lester Jr, sister Donna Lester, his grandparents Herschel and Deeter Lester Sr, Frank and Sidney Mae Sanders, his uncle Bob and aunt Jean Lester and Scottie Ketner.

He is survived by his mother Gelene Lester, his sisters and their husbands, Tina and Rich Teza, and Rachael and Carlton Fuqua. His wife Nancy Lester, his children Jonathan Lester, Alicia Lester, grandson JJ Lester, Austen and Gabrielle Ferguson, Christina Ferguson,Emily Teza, grand niece Quinn Ferguson and family George and Jennifer O'keeffe, and Pam Wooldridge, .

Graveside service will be April 1, 2023 12:00PM in Myrtle Cemetery, Ennis, Texas, under direction of J.E.Keever Mortuary, Inc.
