Howard W. Bright, Sr., 81, passed away in Waxahachie, Texas on Saturday, August 22, 2020.

Howard was born in Waco, Texas on February 25, 1939 to Leonard W. and Shirley C. (Carey) Bright.  He grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Sunset High School in 1958.  On April 26, 1986 he married Carolyn Griffith and they made their home in Avalon for a time before settling in Waxahachie in 1988.  Howard served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the carrier Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Howard worked for Tyler Refrigeration for over twenty years as a supervisor.  Howard had a love for music and served as minister of music for Water Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie and as the Chaplain for Senior Citizens in Waxahachie.  His hobbies included fishing, music and bowling.  Howard had a true love for his family, his community and his Lord.

Howard is survived by his wife of over thirty-four years, Carolyn Bright; children: Debbie Brock and husbnd, Keith, Theresa Cano and husband, Joe Howard Jr. and  wife, Janette, Howard Glenn Bright and wife, Nita, Clyde Griffith and wife, Stacy and Christy Keele and husband, Steve; grandchildren: Amanda Deleon and husband, Chris, Fancy Arciba, Lyndsey Griffith, Marissa Vance, A.J. Keele, Isaac Bright, Jacob Bright and Emily Bright; great-grandchildren: Teagan Lorance and Emma DeLeon; sister, Kathy Ann Sabins; special niece and nephew: Jody and Laura Vance, along with a host of extended family and friends.

Howard is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. in the Water Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. in the Water Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie with Rev. James Southard officiating.
