Ila Sue Bates, 74, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023, in Midlothian, Texas.

Sue was born in Dallas, Texas, on July 2, 1948, to Clarence N. and Ila Marie (Davis) Tiner. Sue grew up in Dallas and graduated from Seagoville High School. Sue married Donnie Bates and they made their home in Palmer.

Sue worked for Sam's Club for fifteen years as a sales representative and for Midlothian ISD for ten years as a bus monitor. Sue was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palmer. Sue was a very talented crafter creating throws, baked goods and canned goods. Sue sold many of her creations at craft fairs.

Sue is survived by her husband, Donnie Bates; sons: Jimmy Clarence Bishop, Richard Bates and Timothy Bates; daughters: Raina Crawford and Donna Jones; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. Interment will follow in Palmer Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Pallbearers will be: Donald Coffman, Chris Coffman, Andrew Coffman, Garrett Jones, Connor Card and Phoenix Card.
