James (Jamie) Floyd Dixon, 54, passed away in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday, January 17th, 2026.

Jamie was born in Ennis, Texas on June 17th, 1971, to Tommy Edward and Patsy Ruth (Southard) Dixon.  He grew up in Ennis and attended school there. He graduated from Ennis High School in 1989 and attended Everest College Dallas. On June 7th, 2021, he married Alfredo Cardoso, Jr. and they made their home in Ennis, moving to Dallas 3 years later.

Jamie had several jobs in his hometown of Ennis, Texas, but working at Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation truly touched him. Jamie loved caring for the elderly, offering not just physical assistance but also companionship, laughter, and dignity. Residents —and their families—often described him as a bright light in difficult times. He was an amazing fulltime caregiver to his mother for over four years.

He took joy in the simple things— reading a good book, long talks over coffee or beer depending on the day, exploring new places, tasting new cuisines—and he loved his family. His humor had a way of turning ordinary moments into memories.

James is survived by husband: Alfredo Cardoso; Brother: Lynn Dixon and wife, Connie; Sister: Vickie Krajca and husband, Lawrence; Nephews: Jarod, Matthew, Nicklas; and Niece: Justena, along with a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Wayne and Curtiss; and nephew: Joshua Krajca.

Interment and graveside service will take place on Friday January 30th, 2026, at 2:00 pm in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
