Mary Jean Davis Meier was born June 21, 1952 to Mary E. Davis and Frederick E. Davis in Athens, Georgia.  She obtained her education in Jacksonville, Florida prior to moving to Texas where she met her husband Douglas C. Meier of Priddy, Texas.  Jean and Doug briefly lived in Sachse, Texas where she owned and operated The Book Jeanie book store. After moving to Ennis, Texas, she relocated her book store there, while contributing as a co-owner of Meier Recycle Center in Bardwell, Texas.

Jean loved her church family at Cowboy Church of Ennis, where she was involved with the quilting class, reading, and creating beautiful embroidery. In addition, she enjoyed fishing, boating, and target practice  Jean had many friends and family that she was very passionate about, especially her grandchildren. She brightened the days of her customers, as well as people who would stop by just to visit and enjoy her friendly banter, along with her delicious coffee. Her love of people and generous nature extended to all who were blessed to know her, as she embodied a Christian perspective of serving others. She enjoyed traveling, especially with her beloved husband, including a memorable church trip to visit The Ark and Creation Museum in Kentucky. Another of her favorite vacation memories included an extended trip to Redwood Forest in California, stopping along the way for highlights such as Yellowstone, Death Valley, Las Vegas, the Mohave Desert, Grand Canyon, Lake Mead and other attractions.

She was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, her father Frederick E. Davis and her brother Steve Davis.  She is survived by her husband, Doug, her mother, Mary, brothers, Clarke and wife Lawana Davis, Tim Davis, and sister and husband, Vicki and Doug Davis. Surviving children include Mark Allen Chandler, Christine and  husband Roger Dickens, Mindi and husband Ray Kavanaugh, and Craig and wife Angie Meier, along with 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by many aunts and uncles, cousins, and nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 12th at 1:00 at Cowboy Church of Ennis, located at 429 SE Interstate 45 Service Road, Ennis, Texas 75119 .  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cowboy Church, as a part of the Jean Meier Memorial for a future columbarium.  For those wishing to donate, you may mail a check to Cowboy Church of Ennis at P.O.
