Jeanette Hunter Ferguson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, leaving a legacy of devotion, accomplishment, and warmth that touched all who knew her. She is survived by her husband James Ferguson, her daughters, Allison Whitlock, Lynne Ferguson, and Amy Simpson, and her son James Ferguson and his wife Donna Ferguson and 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Born in Ennis, Texas on September 23, 1941, to Olin and Lois Hunter, Jeanette rooted her life in the values and community of her hometown. She married her cherished husband, James, in Ennis on March 12, 1983, and together they shared 42 years of steadfast love and partnership.

Jeanette's professional life reflected her dedication and excellence. She worked as a legal secretary for Kilgore and Kilgore for 22 years, bringing diligence and integrity to her role. Despite the challenges of working full time and raising two young daughters, Jeanette pursued her education with determination, graduating from Navarro Junior College in 1974 with an Associates Degree in Business Administration. She did so with distinction, earning a 4.0 GPA.

Her devotion extended beyond her family and career. Jeanette was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church since 1963, embracing her faith community for over six decades. She was an avid quilter, her hands creating warmth and beauty for friends and loved ones. Her passion for literacy and community service led her to become a longtime Friend of the Ennis Public Library.

Jeanette delighted in gathering her family for Thanksgiving, preparing feasts that became treasured traditions and memories. Her hospitality and love were hallmarks of these celebrations, bringing joy to her entire extended family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Olin and Lois Hunter, her sister Margaret Dorough of Arlington, and her brother John Hunter of Tyler. Jeanette's spirit lives on in her family, friends, and all whose lives she graced.

The family extends their deepest love and sincere gratitude to Jeanette's special "Angel" caregiver, Carrie Ross, for her devoted care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church or the Ennis Public Library in Jeanette's memory.

Jeanette will be remembered always for her unwavering love, her gentle strength, and the lasting impact she made within her family and community.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 6 pm to 8 pm in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 10 am in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rev. Michael Howard officiating.The pallbearers will be: Luis Perez, Michael Ferguson, Rob Rose, Ian Baker, Scott Shaw, and Max Buck. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
