Jerry F. McCarty , 83, passed away peacefully on Feb 12, 2023, in Ennis surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was born in Rusk, Texas, on Sept 2, 1939, to Francis O'Donny McCarty and Zilphia "Joyce" (Parker) McCarty. He grew up in Alto, Texas and graduated from Alto High School in 1958. After high school, Jerry received a B.A. from East Texas State University and graduated in 1965 with a Juris Doctor in Law from Southern Methodist University.

Jerry married Jo Anne Bowen in 1962 and they shared four children. In 1979, Jerry married Adelle Hagan Ueberroth and was blessed with two bonus children.

Jerry was a very successful and respected attorney in Ellis County and the surrounding area for over 50 years. He began his career in 1965 with Billy Moore, attorney, in the law firm that eventually became Moore, McCarty, Wilson & Mash. In 2006, Jerry made a career change to become Vice President and Senior Counsel for Victron Energy, Inc. until his retirement in 2018.

Jerry was highly active in the Ennis community, having served on the Ennis Chamber of Commerce, Ennis Independent School District Board of Directors, Ennis United Way, Ennis Lions Club, as Ennis City Attorney, and many other organizations. He was a member of the State Bar of Texas, Ennis Masonic Lodge and Dallas chapters of Scottish Rite and Shriners. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Ennis where he taught Sunday School for 52 years. Jerry was a child of God, a loving husband, devoted and proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and loyal friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, tennis, snow skiing and golf.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 43 years, Adelle, sons Klyne McCarty and Shea McCarty and wife, Amberlee, daughters Melissa McCarty Scoggins and husband Blake, and Leslie McCarty; bonus children Lance Ueberroth and wife, Gayle, and Joy Gannaway and husband, Danny; grandsons Parker McCarty and Keller McCarty, granddaughters Morgan Ruffin, Ariel McCarty, Emerson Scoggins, Elliotte Scoggins and Jade Cope and husband, Adam; great-grandchildren Rebecca Ruffin and Jack Cope; brother Steve McCarty and wife, Sara Lee, niece Sabra Weis and nephew Ty McCarty.

Jerry is preceded in death by his mother, Zilphia "Joyce" (Parker) McCarty, and father, Francis O'Donny McCarty.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Jerry's memory to the First United Methodist Church of Ennis , Children's Methodist Home in Waco, Texas , or a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Traditions Home Health, Senior Helpers Home Health and Three Oaks Hospice for their dedicated care and concern for Jerry and family the past 2 years.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Ennis with Dr. Larry Jinks officiating. Pallbearers will be Parker McCarty, Lance Ueberroth, Blake Scoggins, Danny Gannaway, Jared Ruffin and Joel Hernandez.  Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
