Jerry Wayne Yarbrough, age 77, went home to be with the Lord on February 1, 2026.

Jerry was born on September 24, 1948, in Ennis, Texas, to James Wesley Yarbrough and Vida Mae (Lowrance) Yarbrough. He was raised in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1967. On November 4, 1977, he married Helen Dlabaj, and together they made their home in Alma & Ennis, where they built a life filled with family, friendship, and love.

Jerry worked for AT&T for more than 45 years as a communications technician. He was an avid deer hunter, a wheeling and dealing gun seller, and a coin collector. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors, spending many hours gardening and hunting. He also had a passion for making wine (and sharing it with family and friends). He treasured time spent traveling with Helen. Jerry was known for his easygoing nature and quick wit. He could often be found enjoying a poker game or simply "shooting the breeze" with his many friends.

Those who will cherish his memory include his beloved wife of over 48 years, Helen Yarbrough; his daughter, Melanie Yarbrough Orvedahl, and her husband, Anthony; his grandchildren, Henry Orvedahl and Mallory Shofner; his sister, Norma Bain; his brother, James Yarbrough; and a host of extended family and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Shofner.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00pm in the J.E. Keever Chapel. A Celebration of his life will take place on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 10 a.m. in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Fr. John Dick officiating. Pallbearers will be Scott Yarbrough, Timmy Dlabaj, Alex Jones, Tony Jones, Will Dlabaj and Larry Kubala. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

Memorials honoring Jerry Yarbrough may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery Trust Fund. Envelopes are in the entry of the funeral home.
