John J. Bain, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Ennis, Texas on Monday, August 10, 2020 of natural causes.

John was born in Byrd, Texas on March 2, 1932 to James S. and Ruby Pearl (Johnson) Bain, Sr.  John grew up in Byrd and Ennis, graduating from Ennis High School in 1952.  On April 27, 1957 he married the love of his life Frieda Winterrowd and they made their home in Dallas for thirty-seven years before moving to the Ennis area in 1993.

John worked on the assembly line for General Motors for twenty-seven years.  He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Ennis, the Masonic Lodge #369 for sixty-seven years, Chapter and Council, Eastern Star#160, KJT, Sokol and the American Legion.

John is survived by his loving wife of over sixty-three years, Frieda Bain; son, John Stephen Bain and wife, Andrea; daughter, Karen Sauer; daughter-in-law; Tiffany and husband, Richard Davis five grandchildren: Richard and wife, Laura, James and wife, Courtney, Michaela, Haley and Joshua; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James S. Bain, Jr., son, Wesley Bain and son-in-law, Ronnie Sauer.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis with Father Jerry Hill officiating.  Pallbearers will be Richard Sauer, James Bain, Joshua Bain, Bruce Tekell, Curtis Tekell and Toby Potts.  Honorary pallbearers will be his many beloved nephews.  Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
