John "Buddy" Ervin, 66, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, September 4, 2021 with family by his side..

Buddy was born in Athens, Texas on January 3, 1955, to John Hugh Ervin and Mary (Nash) Hawley.  He grew up in Greenville, Texas, graduated from Greenville High School in 1973.  Buddy served his country proudly in the United States Navy. He attended East Texas State University. On May 14, 1977, he married his sweetheart Carroll Meaders and they made their home in Ennis.

Buddy worked for American Cooler for fourteen years in aircraft maintenance and for Ellison Concrete for eight years as a shop foreman.  Buddy was a member of the VFW, and American Legion.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, darts, pool, golf and spending time with his veteran friends.

Buddy is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Carroll Ervin; son, Cody Ervin; daughter, Christie Kubin and husband, Brad; grandchildren: Bailee Ervin, Kynlie Kubin and Kooper Kubin; brothers: Tommy Ervin and Ricky Ervin and wife, Terri; sister, Maryann Kubesek and husband, Peter; stepmother, Janie Ervin and a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents: John Ervin and Mary Hawley, brother James Ervin and stepfather, C.W. Hawley.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, at 10 a.m. in Baylor Baptist Church of Ennis with Rev. Chet Hensley officiating.
