John Granville Wadley passed away Monday morning, November 8th, 2021 after battling several serious health concerns and complications from a fracture to his spine. He was reunited to be with his devoted wife, Rebecca Ruth Wadley a few days before her November birthday. John led a simple yet fulfilling, busy, and happy life dedicated to his wife, family and enjoying cooking for friends and loved ones, hunting, and fishing. He served as an Agriculture and Welding educator in both Palmer and Ferris Independent School Districts, before retiring to a home on Richland Chambers Lake in his later days. John was born on May 17th, 1947 in Dallas, Texas to his parents, Harper Granville and Ruth Wadley. He lived much of his young life in Palmer and attended Palmer High School, where he would eventually become a teacher. John later moved to Waxahachie, Texas with his family in 1990 where he would live for many years. John attended Tarleton State University and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Sciences.

John always enjoyed helping students learn to love vocational skills through his instruction in Agricultural Science, Welding, and Mechanics, and also sponsored many school activities including the local Future Farmers of America. John's main love was cooking for his family, which included many fish fries, cooking venison, steaks on the grill, and many holiday meals for the family and friends. John also had a passion for hunting, fishing, building things, and growing his own crops to share with others. He spent many hours fishing with friends and teaching his sons to hunt on many trips to south Texas. Another of John's passions was camping and traveling with his family and spending time on his boat with friends and his son Jarrod. John always had a great love for his pets and spent a good bit of time with his Australian Shepards. Brummie and his son's Shiz Tzu, Oscar. He spent a lot of time in recent years with his wife on the back porch and working with his son on projects at his house on Richland Chambers Lake. He is survived by his two sons, James Wadley, who lives with his family in Porto, Portugal, and his son Jarrod of Streetman, Texas.

A common descriptor for John was his willingness to help and support people. He rarely asked for much but enjoyed doing tasks for other people. He was also an extremely hard worker that took pride in all things he completed. A story that his wife commonly told is that John and Rebecca shared a fondness for spending time on the back porch while he cooked dinner on the grill, while they both enjoyed the evenings on the porch. He eventually purchased a house at the lake where the entire house was surrounded by a porch that he and Becky could multiple evenings on. He was loved by many in Ferris and Palmer for being silly and himself. It was usually apparent that he loved you according to him teasing you or cooking for you.

A visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, November, 17th at J.E. Keever Mortuary - Palmer Chapel, 200 West Jefferson Street, Palmer, TX 75152 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 18th, at 10:00 am at Palmer First United Methodist Church, 371 W Jefferson Street, Palmer, TX 75152 led by Reverend Kevin Wilson, and will proceed to the Palmer Cemetery for burial.
