It is with great sadness that the Honza family announces the death of Jon Paul Honza. He passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He had a two-year struggle with melanoma cancer.

Jon Paul was born on June 11, 1961, in Ennis, Texas, to Adolph W. Honza and Lucy (Juricek) Honza and lived his entire life in Ennis. He graduated from St. John Catholic High School in 1979 and Navarro College with a 2 year Associates Degree in Applied Science. He found his career calling in the HVAC field earning many certifications over the years.

On February 27, 1982, he married the love of his life of 40 years, Doris Ann Zmolik and raised their four children in Ennis.

Jon Paul and Doris owned their business, JPH Mechanical Services and served many residents and businesses in the community. He was a very respected businessman in the city serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission. He was a member of the KJT and Knights of Columbus.

Jon Paul was a devout Catholic being extremely active with St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. He served on the finance committee for many years. His strong faith never wavered through his struggles.

In his earlier years, he loved flying his Cessna over the countryside. He loved playing golf, fishing, and the outdoors. If you saw Jon Paul, you also saw his beloved dog, Cooper. He was with Jon Paul at all times at work and at play.

His love for his family took top priority and he will always be remembered for his kindness and willingness to be helpful to all. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, and his heart of gold will never be forgotten.

Jon Paul is preceded in death by his father, Adolph W. Honza, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Many will be welcoming him into the arms of the Lord.

He is survived by his loving family: Doris and children, Bryan, Kevin, Brittney (Marissa), and Lauren; his mother Lucy Honza; siblings: Debbie Smith (Mike), Vickie Kuhn (Glenn) and Steven Grier (Rona); as well as many nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, mother-in-law Doris Parma Zmolik, many sisters and brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 10 a.m. in the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis, with Father John Dick as celebrant.  Pallbearers will be Mike Harrison, Jay Hughes, Jeff Johnson, Kevin Slovak, Ronnie Zmolek, and Michael Zmolik.

The family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be made in Jon Paul's name to Helping Hands of Ennis or the ASPCA .
