Jose "Joe" Moreno, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 2, 2025. Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a cherished friend to many.

Born September 10, 1944, in McAllen, Texas. Joe grew up in a large loving family in Odem, Texas, where he attended school. On March 28, 1966, he married the love of his life, Minnie Casanova. The couple lived in Sinton, Texas, for three years before settling in Ennis, where they built their life and raised their family.

Throughout his working years, Joe was employed by Piggly Wiggly, K-Mart Warehouse, and HEB. He was known for his warm generosity, especially when hosting cookouts, and he found his greatest joy in spending time with family. Joe was also a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, cheering them on through every season.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Minnie (Casanova) Moreno, his children, Joe Moreno, Jr. and wife, Jill, Steven Moreno and wife, Linda, daughter-in-law, Julie, and Lance Moreno and his significant other, Karen. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Ryan Moreno, and wife, Celeste, Staci Griffin and husband, Kordel, Casey Moreno, Haley Hicks and husband, Briley, Evan Moreno and wife, Celeste, Mikaela Smith and husband, Devin, and Bailey Moreno; as well as fourteen great-grandchildren. Additionally survivors include the sisters; Eva Tobar, Antonia Garcia, and Norma Delatorre DeAses, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his son, Michael Moreno, his parents, Benigno and Jacoba Moreno, his sisters: Benita Delatorre and Maria Moreno, and his brothers: Domingo Moreno and Adam Moreno.

Joe will be remembered for his unwavering love, steady faith, and the warmth he brought to every gathering. His legacy lived on in the family he treasured so deeply.

Pallbearers are Ryan Moreno, Evan Moreno, Julian Messa, Charlie Tapia, Joel Garcia and Leo Delatorre.

Visitation and Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Myrtle Cemetery of Ennis, Texas under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
