Juanita Beth York, formerly of Bardwell, Tx, passed early Sunday morning on November 21st, 2021, at Ennis Regional Hospital. She was seventy years old.

Born Juanita Beth Brewer on September 6th, 1951, she was raised in Dallas, Tx and later started a family there with Lester Duke. They settled in Ennis until the passing of Lester's father, and eventually made their permanent stay in Bardwell, Tx where they bought a home to raise their two daughters.

Many years later, Nita re- married to Dennis "Pops" York, with whom she would share a happy and loving marriage for twenty-seven years. She and Dennis moved to East Texas for a few years but found themselves back in Bardwell with the kids. She worked many places over the years, her longest and most notable stay being at Ennis Independent School District. Dennis and Nita both were well known and well liked in their community. She always had a passion for cooking that she would take to the Bardwell Food Market in her later years. Townspeople and passerby's admired her warm demeanor and the special touch she had in the kitchen, often making a stop just to order a "Nita Burger".

Besides being a hard worker and a loving wife, she was an affectionate mother who never failed to tell her children she loved them. They will remember her for her "sweet tooth", and her secret stash of penny candy in her sock drawer. . She had coffee every morning, and you were always welcome to join and take part in the art of talking- her favorite pastime only behind reading and listening to her "oldies" music. She was an honest woman, true to her word, who had compassion for all things living. There was never a time when she didn't have a dog in the home, a bookshelf at full capacity, and potted ivy plants littering the sunny spots by the windows.

To those who loved her the most, she was known as Mama, Nana, Grandma, and most recently Great Grandma. All of these she proudly answered to. For such a little woman, she had the biggest heart that loved all her many grandchildren.

Nita is preceded in death by her parents, Billy Leon Brewer & Barbara Beth Brewer, and her beloved husband Dennis York.

She is survived by one brother Michael Paul Thomas and wife Cathy of Plano. Two sisters Sheila LaJean Howard of Waxahachie Billie Sue Duke and husband Terry of Pontotoc, MS. and Two nieces and two nephews. She is also survived by her 2 daughters, December Regeon of Palmer and Bobbie Jean Duke of Waxahachie along with two stepsons, DT York of Kansas, and Tony York of Tyler.

She is survived, loved and celebrated by her grand-children: Andrew Duke, Cassidy Enis, Chad and Nicholas Pena, great-grandson Wyatt Herman and 6 step-grandchildren.

Sadly, one of her beloved grandsons followed her in passing this month. Grandson, Ethan Bradley Enis of Palmer, Tx, passed away suddenly Saturday December 11 th, 2021. He was twenty-one years old. Today we mourn the untimely loss of two beautiful souls, only slightly softened by the fact that they didn't have to go alone. No doubt, he held "Grandma's" hand as they were welcomed home together.
