With heavy hearts we announce the passing of a remarkable woman, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Kathey McIntosh. She left this world on September 24, 2023 but her legacy of love and compassion will forever live on in our hearts.

Born on March 1, 1941 Kathey (known to many simply as Nanny) was a beacon of light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence exuded warmth, kindness, playfulness, and an unwavering love that touched the souls of everyone she encountered. She lived her life guided by an enduring spirit of grace and an unshakable faith.As a devoted wife of 63 years, Nanny shared a love story that was nothing short of inspirational. Her marriage to John Lee McIntosh was a testament to the profound connection they shared. The couple met as lovestruck nineteen-year olds at Sutter's Dairy Mart in Cameron, Texas. Together, they demonstrated the true meaning of partnership, supporting one another through the trials of life and celebrating the joys of love. Nanny spent many years going to Volkswagen car shows where she supported John Lee in showcasing his love of showing off their VW bug and having fun with friends. When asked how long they have been together they would simply answer "not long enough." Their bond was an example to us all, and their love will continue to serve as a guiding light for future generations of their family.

Kathey's professional career included a career as a seamstress and then as an assistant for Dr. Walter P. McCall – of which she listed as her greatest professional achievement.

In her role as a mother, Nanny was the embodiment of selflessness. Her love knew no bounds as she dedicated herself to the well-being and happiness of her children, Max, Becky, and Tee. She provided endless love, unwavering support, and valuable life lessons. She loved her children unconditionally – never criticizing and always guiding them even when they would lose their way. Her wisdom, kindness, and gentle guidance molded her children into the remarkable individuals they are today. She was the greatest mother three kids could have ever asked for.

Nanny found immense joy in her role as a grandmother. She reveled in the laughter, the hugs, watching her grandsons play in the field next to her house, listening to her granddaughters laughs at Christmas, and all the moments in between. She was a dedicated volunteer at Austin elementary and Bowie elementary. Not only was she 'Nanny' to her five grandchildren, but also to each and everyone one of their friends, her neighbors' children, and anyone else who needed a loving soul to lean their head on and share their heart with. She was their steadfast source of encouragement, offering advice, sharing stories, and always ready to listen with an open heart.

In her later years, Nanny became a great-grandmother, bestowing her love and wisdom on a new generation. Her presence brought joy and wonder to the lives of all of great grandchildren. They will carry forward her legacy of bringing kindness and compassion into every facet of life.

Nanny had an unyielding faith that provided comfort and solace to her throughout her life. Her spiritual devotion was an anchor during difficult times and a source of inspiration to those around her.

She was known not just for her love for family but for her love for life itself. Nanny had a passion for cooking, crocheting, and sewing and she shared this enthusiasm with those she cherished. For many years Nanny and John Lee served as cooks of Wednesday night meals at their church, Baylor Baptist, in Ennis where they developed lifelong friends with countless people that are considered extended family. Her laughter was infectious, and her smile could brighten the cloudiest of days.

As we say our goodbyes to Nanny we remember her as a woman whose love knew no limits, whose kindness was boundless, and whose legacy of compassion will echo through the ages. In our hearts, her memory will forever be a guiding light, reminding us to live with love, faith, and an open heart.

Nanny is survived by her husband John Lee McIntosh, Children Max McIntosh and his wife Theresa, Becky McIntosh, and Tee Roberts and her husband Johnny; Grandchildren Jeremy Robinson and Fiancé Erin, Jenni Roberts, Kailya Iuliucci and her husband Steve, Nick McIntosh and his wife Michelle, and Jesse Roberts and his husband Collin; Great-Grandchildren Jayden, Easton, Nolen, Zane, Ireland; two brothers Calvin and wife Kathy Witt and Jim Witt and wife Mary; and sister-in-law LaNelle Witt; as well as a host of other relatives and friends who were fortunate to share in her life. She has been reunited in eternity with her parents Faye LaJoyce Witt and Howard Oliver Witt, sisters Ida Pearl Witt and Sherian Joy Witt, and brother Hilton Witt.

Visitation will be held at J.E. Keever Mortuary from 6-8pm Thursday, September 28, 2023.

A celebration of Nanny's life will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Baylor Baptist Church in Ennis, Texas.
