Kathleen Giffins Hejny, 59, of Lake City, Florida left this Earth early in the morning of February 14, 2022, at Haven-Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center after her courageous fight with cancer ended. Kathleen was born on March 28, 1962, in Camden NJ to Daniel S. and Eleanor Dalsey-Giffins. Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Eleanor along with 3 brothers Danny, Timmy, and Johnny Giffins, all of Westmont, NJ. She is survived by her beloved husband Jeffrey, daughter Lauren, grandchild Olivia Elyze Petty, a brother Kevin of Berlin, NJ, sisters Michele Lodgek of Bangor ME, Coleen Mellet of Oaklyn, NJ and Marjorie Marshbank of Berlin, NJ. Kathleen is also survived by her Aunt Carol Ramsey of New Hampshire along with many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen moved from New Jersey to Texas in 1985 where she met her husband, Jeffrey Hejny. They settled and prospered in Ennis, TX after the birth of their daughter Lauren Elizabeth Hejny.

Kathleen spent her days spreading her love and joy to each and every one she met. She was a selfless and genuinely beautiful woman inside and out. She loved helping people in need, putting a smile on people's faces and bringing happiness into the lives of everyone she met.

Kathleen worked at EISD for a number of years until her daughter Lauren graduated High School and went on to start a job working at HEB in 2014 where she found what she considered to be her most favorite job. She worked at HEB for several years doing what she enjoyed most which was interacting with and helping anyone that came into the store. She loved spending her free time cooking, being outdoors, being with her family, and most of all being a grandmother. She was a free spirit with a wonderful outlook on life. Kathleen was also an active member of St. John's Church in Ennis, TX. and Epiphany Catholic Church in Lake City, FL.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. in the J. E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
