Kay Cathey, 69, passed away in Mansfield, Texas on Wednesday, November 3, 2021.

Kay was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on March 2, 1952, to Lewis Calvin and Dorothy (Looney) Herron.  Kay grew up in Post, Texas and graduated from Post High School in 1970.  She went on to receive her bachelor's degree from McMurray University.  On August 11, 1973, Kay married the love of her life Johnny Cathey, and they made their home in Ennis.

Kay was an extremely talented musician and shared her talent with the First Presbyterian Church of Ennis for thirty-five years.  Kay had a love for learning and was a cherished teacher for Ennis ISD for thirty-five years.

Kay leaves behind her loving family including her husband of forty-eight years, Johnny Cathey; son, Walter Lewis Cathey and wife, Bethany; daughter, Cadie Ranson and husband, Jason; grandchildren: Katelyn Cathey, Layton Ranson, Dylan Ranson, Kendall Cathey and Caroline Cathey; two brothers: Lewis Herron and Ken Herron along with countless extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 10 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Ennis with Rev. John Blewitt officiating.
