Kenneth Ray Farmer, 92, passed from this life on Monday, 12 January  2026, in Bardwell, Texas. He was born on 22  December 1933, in Avalon, Texas to Claude B. Farmer and Getheral Eva Agatha (Davis) Farmer. He graduated from Bardwell High School in 1951.

Two months later, at the age of 17, he married the love of his life, Royann McCaig on 26 July 1951. She was only 15 years old. The story goes that it was predicted that it would never last, but it did…for over 74 years! They made their home in and around Bardwell their entire married life raising four children.

He started work for Ennis Business Forms right out of high school and was employed there for 15 years, but his calling was farming and the rural way of life. Until his health prevented him from doing so, he spent the rest of his years farming and ranching, except for a short period of time working for the Ellis County Precinct 2 and the Ennis Post Office.

In the late 1970's, along with his son and father, owned and operated Farmers' Gin in Bardwell. He was instrumental in establishing the Rural Bardwell Water Supply Corp, and served as past president of the Elm Branch Cemetery Board in Bardwell and the Bardwell Ex-Students Assn.

Kenneth lived for faith and family. He was a lifelong member of Bardwell Church of Christ, serving as an elder for 60 years. As a Bible scholar, he taught the adult Sunday School class for over 50 years, as well as served as song leader.

He spent his time following his children and grandchildren through livestock shows and horse events, ball games, and band. Their accomplishments were his joy.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Royann; son, Gary Farmer and wife, Sharan, daughters: Becky Newman and husband, Paul, Kennette Odlozil and Dionne Sauers and husband, Monte, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and a niece and nephew.  He is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Henry Odlozil, Jr.

Visitation will be held on Friday, 16 January 2026, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 17 January 2026, at 10 a.m. in the Bardwell Church of Christ with Chance Farmer officiating. Pallbearers will be Jodie, Nicholas, and Mason Odlozil, Joshua and Matt Newman and Casey Hendrix. Interment will follow in Elm Branch Cemetery of Bardwell under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
