Kerry Dean Porter, 70, passed away in Dallas, Texas on Monday, October 4, 2021.

Kerry was born in Ennis, Texas on March 12, 1951, to Jerry Lee and Maryann (Gardiner) Porter.  He grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1969.  Kerry went on to Tarleton State University to receive his Bachelor's degree in Music Education and also his Master's degree in Music Education.  While at Tarleton he served in the ROTC.  Kerry served his country proudly in the United States Army.

Kerry's career spanned many years and touched many lives in the education field.  He loved his band kids at Corsicana ISD, Navasota ISD, Community ISD (outside of Rockwall), Mexia ISD, Riesel ISD, and Hubbard ISD.  After retiring from band directing, he worked for Sears Corporation.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mexia where he was a proud member of the church orchestra for many years.  Kerry enjoyed model trains, high school football, genealogy, The fighting Texas Aggie band, and keeping people connected on Facebook.

Kerry leaves behind his loving family including his son, Kory Porter; daughter, Marissa P. Barganier and husband, Ryan; mother, Maryann Porter; grandson, Jaxon; sister, Lynn Roberts; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and countless students.

Kerry is preceded in death by his father.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021, in the Telico Gin at 2 p.m.
