(Thomas) Lester Hammond passed away after a long illness, on Friday July 8, 2022 at 7:20 am.

Lester was born on October 14, 1963, in Ennis, Tx. He was raised in Bardwell, Tx. He attended school in Avalon, Tx and Ennis, Tx... where he graduated in May of 1982.

Lester worked several different jobs over the years... he worked at the Bardwell granary during his high school years, he worked for Andy Christopher digging graves, Atlas Sound for several years, he drove an 18-wheeler for KLLM, and then, he found his passion for creating and building cedar furniture. Lester loved working with his hands, creating beautiful cedar furniture and other pieces.

Lester is survived by his sisters, Martha Hammond, Cora Suarez and Tena Greene... Walter Hammond, Wanda Shackelford and James Duffy, who are half siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Martha (Frankie) Hammond, his brother Wesley (Bubba) Hammond and 4 half siblings, Charles Hammond, Linda Wesolowski, Marie Downing and Ronnie Roach.

Lester also had several God children and unofficial God children, Glenda, Madison and Helen Weemes of Rice, Tx. Rebecca Bruyere, Wyatt Cave, Lane Cave, Tristan and Xander Duncan of Hopewell.

Memorial services will be held at J. E. Keever Mortuary Chapel in Ennis, TX at 2 p.m. July 22, 2022 with Rev. Bill Southern officiating.

Honorary Pall Bearers: Alvie, Ronnie, and Kyle Hollingsworth, Tim Armstrong, Tommy and Jake Dunn and Jake Bratcher.
